Sehun was a reasonably popular kid at school. 18 years old, he had everything going for him - height, good grades, looks that have garnered the affection and envy of girls and boys alike in his school. He got confessions every day, love letters falling out of his locker at the beginning and end of each day. He’d stuck to the same routine since the start of high school - arrive early morning, get his books from his locker, go to class, attend club meetings, put his books in his locker, take the bus home, the end. In his three or so at Seoul Performing Arts, he never changed a thing. He’d had one or two girlfriends and boyfriends but none of those had lasted long.
Naturally it came as a surprise for some - mostly the girls and a boy or two who'd had their eye on him for awhile now - when he was seen more often on his phone than ever before. He got in trouble once for texting during class and imagination ran wild when someone swore they saw him meet up with someone after school.
Sehun shows up one day with a new watch. It's expensive, a Tissot. For the few weeks or so that follow, he would occasionally show up to school sporting something or other that is new, though not quite as expensive as the first thing. A case for his iPhone. Charms for his backpack. Once or twice, he arrived at school by taxi - something he never did.
Rumors start going around that Sehun must be dating someone from one of the private schools nearby - amongst those rumors were guesses on who it could be. The handsome exchange student Tao from Jeonneung Han Academy? The student body president of Asteria, Junmyeon? Still others wonder if it is Jinri, the princess of Mok-won High. They asked Jongin and Lu Han, two of his closest friends in school and got nothing but secretive grins.
On his birthday, instead of leaving for the bus stop as he usually did at the end of the day, he stood wait just outside the school gates. At his feet and hanging on his elbows were gift bags of every color, presents from friends and admirers alike. He stood alone for about 10 minutes before a curious admirer approaches him and asks if there's something wrong.
"I'm waiting for my boyfriend." He replied, looking up from his phone for a second. The cute sound of the Kakaotalk notif from his phone prompted him to look at the screen again. The corner of his mouth quirked up in a soft smile presumably at the message he read.
The girl's eyes widened in surprise at his answer and there's a seconds delay before she finally replied, "I hope he comes soon then, it's about to rain!"
"I'm not worried. He's never late."
The girl didn't say anything else, scampering off to tell her friends waiting nearby. Whether he noticed their whispers was unclear but another five minutes passed before Sehun pocketed his phone. Soft footsteps were heard seconds before another person arrived at the school gates.
The figure that came into view was nothing like anyone expects. He’s slight, shorter than Sehun. Horn rimmed spectacles balance on his nose and a single stud pierced one of his earlobes. He wore skinny jeans and a plain tee under a black and beige windbreaker. He's no one that any of them fantasized him to be - no one was able to place a name. He looked older than Sehun by a few years - definitely not a high school student.
"Jongdae hyung! Over here."
He turned and walked towards Sehun, the younger boy meeting him halfway. "Did you wait long? Hold on, I felt a raindrop." He opened the leather satchel hanging on one shoulder, opening the umbrella to cover both of them. Sehun hummed a "No" as he waited for him, picking up his presents.
He leaned in as though to kiss the older boy, but his boyfriend either didn't notice or deflected him easily, because he turned his head, fiddling with his satchel straps. Sehun pressed his lips together in confusion, drawing them into a thin line that disappeared the second the other looked back up at him.
"Let's go?"

"Let's go?"
________
Jongdae lead them to the bus stop. Ordinarily the trip to Sehun's favourite bubble tea shop was a 30 minute walk. The two didn't mind - it's usually enough time for Jongdae to babble about how his classes at university were going or simply enjoy the good weather they had lately.
Today it's about to rain a lot though so they opt to take the bus. Jongdae glanced at Sehun as they step under the glass awning of the stop. "Happy Birthday, Sehun." he said at last, "I've got a present for you but it's at my dorm. I'll give it to you after bubble tea, alright?"
Sehun looked over at him, smiling. "That's fine." A few seconds passed, as he debated internally whether what he was thinking about was a good idea, before he reached over and took Jongdae's hand. He's pleased when he felt the clink of matching silver bands and even more when Jongdae didnn't pull away. He squeezed his hand tighter but something about earlier still bothered him.
"Let's walk." He said finally, starting to tug Jongdae along. The older boy yelped as he stumbled and caught himself.
"Sehuna, it's going to rain!" His protests fell to deaf ears - the fact that he hadn't exactly made an attempt to pull the younger boy back under the glass canopy only spurred him to keep going.
"I want to take the long way. We have an umbrella, don't we?" Sehun replied flippantly, glancing over his shoulder.
Jongdae couldn't argue with that logic so sighing, he fell into step with the high schooler.
The long way cut through the park and swung past Jongdae's dorm building. The path was scenic, shrouded in willow and maple trees, but small - a thin winding walkway meant for couples to walk close to one another if they didn't want to veer onto grass and shrubbery.
Sehun lead his boyfriend a good ways down this path before pulling him off onto a branching walkway. Their footsteps thudded on wood as they went up and over a little bridge over a decorative stream circling a gazebo.
"Sehuna, what are you—"
The older boy's words were cut off when Sehun let go of his hand to turn him around and back him up against one of the posts, dropping his numerous gift bags onto the floor. As the younger boy leaned in, Jongdae turned his head slightly to see if they were in view of anyone.
Noticing, Sehun let out a whine and leaned instead into Jongdae's shoulder. "Hyung. Can't I kiss you? It's not like I've never done it before." He voiced the complaint against the crook of his boyfriend's neck, before adding a little more seriously, "You're making me feel like you're buying out of letting me hold you."
Feeling Jongdae stiffen at that, he stood back, taking in his surprised expression. "Are you afraid to be seen with me, hyung?"
"No!" Eyes wide, he shook his head. "No, that's not it—"
"Then what is it? You've never let kissing bother you before. It's not like we haven't done more than that either."
Jongdae's cheeks flushed red at Sehun's blunt words. "It's just.. it's just, you've never told me to pick you up at your school before and I don't want bad rumors going around about a guy like me dating you. I know you've always been popular and you're always getting gifts so I..."
Jongdae's expression became sheepish as he trailed off. Meanwhile, Sehun's own slowly turned to one of realisation.
"Hyung....... is that why you got me so many things? Because you felt bad?"
The older boy shook his head. "No, I really like getting you things and all, it's just—"
"You felt bad." Jongdae's brows furrowed. "Stop interrupting me!"
Sehun laughed. "But it's true." Despite the shove he received for doing so initially, he leaned in and pressed his lips to Jongdae's. "I don't mind the presents. You can keep giving them to me." He said cheekily, smiling widely.
"Brat." Jongdae muttered. A snicker shook Sehun's shoulders gently as he leaned his forehead against the shorter man's. "I like it more when you let me do this though." He moved his mouth to Jongdae's ear, lips closing over the piercing hanging on the lobe.
"Sehuna, we're outside!" The older boy protested, hissing as he attempted to shove the high schooler off. To no avail, of course, because Oh Sehun would be Oh Sehun and that meant he wasn't giving up for nothing. Jongdae tried glaring - of course it didn't work on Sehun, who only leaned back in again, mouth clamping to his neck this time.
"You've been ignoring me since you got me from school. Indulge me a little."
The boom and crack of thunder drowned out his gasp easily, followed by a sudden downpour that guaranteed no one would come this way for awhile.
"You can even be as loud as you want."
Brat.
